2009 Chair

Sig has spent more than 50 years in public service, including stints as a Santa Clara County supervisor and mayor of Gilroy. An At-Large Director, he represents portions of Santa Clara County that were once the 1967 Gavilan Water Conservation District boundaries.

A director since 1980, Sig is currently chairing the board for his fifth time. He has also served as a board member of HOPE Rehabilitation, Wheeler Hospital Foundation Board and the Gilroy Elks Club. Sig was inducted into the Gilroy Hall of Fame in 1991 and has a 10-mile portion of state Highway Route 101 named for him.

Sig lives in Gilroy and has five children and 12 grandchildren. He runs a packing shed business and farming interests in Los Banos.
