RWQCB Watershed Stewardship Excellence Award
The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Board) presented the District with its Watershed Stewardship Excellence Award – Recognition for Exceptional Watershed Stewardship and Legacy Mercury Pollution Control Efforts in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Director Estremera accepted the award on behalf of the District at the Regional Board’s meeting on September 13, 2006.

This award is the result of the District’s efforts to assist the Regional Board to develop the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for mercury in the Guadalupe River Watershed, and for taking the initiative to evaluate treatment alternatives to reduce methyl mercury in Lake Almaden.
