Valley Water Declares April as Environmental Awareness Month

The Santa Clara Valley Water District encourages everyone living and working in Santa Clara County to join in its first extended celebration of Earth Day.

The Santa Clara Valley Water District has declared April as Environmental Awareness Month in Santa Clara County. The first annual Environmental Awareness Month will be an extended celebration of Earth Day, which occurs on April 22 and will encourage you to preserve the natural environment by reducing your water and energy consumption. Valley Water will also encourage you to be more environmentally conscious by using alternate transportation and energy-efficient appliances.

Some of the ways which Valley Water plans on promoting Environmental Awareness Month are by participating in the following public events:

  • Lower Guadalupe River Trail Project Dedication Ceremony: Valley Water invites the public and press to take part in the dedication of the Lower Guadalupe Trail, being hosted by the City of San José. The opening of this trail will provide you with a new recreation area and bike trail, which will allow you to use your bike as an alternate form of transportation when traveling to parts of the county.
  • San Jose’s Great American Litter Pick-up on April 22: Valley Water will partner with the City of San José and encourage you to remove litter, which improves flood protection by clearing creeks of debris and trash.
  • Water Conservation team will educate the county at various community events about how you can conserve water at home and work.
  • Valley Water invites you to join in its participation at the City of Morgan Hill’s Earth Day Celebration on Tuesday, April 22 from 3-4 p.m.

We invite you to make the most of the first Environmental Awareness Month in Santa Clara County by taking part in these events and making small changes in your daily routine to reduce your environmental impact.
