Opening Celebration for Lower Guadalupe River Trail Project

The City of San Jose will host an opening ceremony for the Lower Guadalupe River Trail Project. This project is an outcome of efforts of the Santa Clara Valley Water District and the City of San Jose to improve the county’s recreational facilities and environment.

The City of San Jose is hosting an opening ceremony for the Lower Guadalupe River Trail Project on April 5th. This project results from a partnership between the Santa Clara Valley Water District and the City of San Jose in an effort to provide a recreational facility to link the community of Alviso to the Guadalupe River Park at Interstate 880.

Work for this project began in early June 2007 to provide trail users with paved all-weather surfaces and railing improvements so that the trail route is now clearly defined in all areas of the 6.4 mile-long trial.

Valley Water’s Director Richard P. Santos will attend the opening ceremony on April 5th and reaffirm Valley Water’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Santa Clara County through projects like this.

This trail provides an opportunity for you to use alternate forms of transportation by commuting to work or leisure activities by foot or on your bike. Small changes like this will lead to a healthier environment and better connection with the natural habitat in Santa Clara County as carbon emissions are reduced and you spend more leisure time on the county’s creekside trails.
