Tony Estremera elected Santa Clara Valley
Water District Chairman

SANTA CLARA COUNTY — Antonio "Tony" Estremera, directing attorney of the Legal Aid Society of Santa Clara County, was today unanimously elected chairman of the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors.

Estremera, an 11-year member of the board -- was elected by fellow directors to lead the board through 2007. The board also selected Director Greg Zlotnick to serve as vice chair.

Estremera represents North County as an appointee of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. His representation extends to residents and businesses in most of San Jose, and the cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Saratoga, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale. He was first appointed to the water board in February 1996.

Zlotnick, the director for District 5, represents the cities of Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Cupertino, Saratoga, Monte Sereno, portions of San Jose and Sunnyvale, as well as Stanford.

The Santa Clara Valley Water District manages the county’s major watersheds, including 10 reservoirs, more than 800 miles of streams and large groundwater basins. The water district also provides flood protection throughout Santa ClaraCounty.
