Notice of preparation

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Subject: Notice of Preparation—Stream Maintenance Program—Draft Environmental Impact Report

Santa Clara Valley Water District (District) will be the Lead Agency and will prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the District’s Stream Maintenance Program. We wish to know your views or those of your agency as to the scope and content of the environmental information. For agencies, this information should be relevant to your agency’s statutory responsibilities in connection with the proposed project. Agencies will use the EIR prepared by our agency when considering permit applications or other types of review and approval for this project.

The project description, location, and the probable environmental effects are discussed in the attached Initial Study.

Please respond in writing or by electronic mail no later than November 14, 2000, and indicate a contact person at your agency. Send your response to:

A public informational meeting will be held to describe the Stream Maintenance Program and to solicit recommendations to help refine the issues, measures, and alternatives to be addressed in the Draft EIR. The informational meeting is scheduled Tuesday, October 24, 2000, at 7:00 p.m. at the Santa Clara Valley Water District, Headquarters Building, 5750 Almaden Expressway, San Jose, California.
