Perchlorate
One of the primary goals of the Santa Clara Valley Water
District is to protect the community's groundwater supplies. Recently,
an investigation by state water officials detected a chemical called
perchlorate in several water wells in South County. Although the contamination
is under the jurisdiction of the Central Coast Regional Water Quality
Control Board, the water district has brought its significant resources
to assess the extent of the perchlorate contamination. In addition to
offering free well testing within the initial study area, the water
district’s groundwater experts will continue to provide technical
assistance to the investigation.
To educate the public, we have gathered and prepared a
great deal of information about the perchlorate contamination. We will
continue to post new information on this Web site as it becomes available.
If you have more questions, please contact the district's
Perchlorate Hotline at 1-888-Hey-Noah (1-888-439-6624).
Concerned residents may call Olin Corporation directly
at Olin's Community Response hotline 1-800-295-6141
for information about their investigation and cleanup activities.
