Frequently Asked Questions
about WET
What's WET?
Water Efficient Technologies (WET) Program
offers rebates of
up to $50,000 per water conservation project to commercial,
industrial and institutional water customers for implementation
of process and equipment changes which
reduce business water usage
by at least 100 ccf (74,800 gallons) per year.
Who can qualify for the WET Program?
Any industrial or commercial customer in Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Morgan Hill, San Martin, Gilroy, or unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County is eligible.
For customers in San Jose, Alviso, Santa Clara, Milpitas, Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga the WET program is administered by the City of San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant. Please contact:

What projects Qualify?
Eligible projects must reduce water use by at least 100 ccf per year (1 ccf = 748 gallons).
-
Equipment and projects must have a minimum life expectancy
of five years.
-
Equipment must be purchased or leased with a minimum
three-year lease.
-
Maintenance projects do not qualify.
-
Projects must meet all applicable federal, state,
and local codes and regulations.
How much is the rebate?
It's based on the reduction of water use per year.
-
The maximum rebate is $50,000 per project or 50% of
the project cost, whichever is less.
-
For projects using purchased equipment, the rebate amount is $4.00 for each ccf (1 ccf = 748 gallons) reduction of water use per year.
-
For projects using leased equipment, the rebate amount
is proportional to the length of the lease. For example,
for a three year lease 3/5 of the standard rebate will be awarded (i.e. $2.40 for each ccf reduction in water use per year.)
Are there any restrictions on the rebate?
- Any other rebate must be deducted from the
purchase price. No rebates are offered for items that an agency, supplier,
or sanitation district has offered, or is offering, as a part of a retrofit
program (e.g., low-flow shower heads, faucet aerators, ultra-low flush
toilets, and flushometer replacement valves.)
- Applications received after the project has been initiated will be rejected.
