Water conservation for businesses and schools

Are you a Santa Clara County business or school concerned about high water use and its related cost? The following programs will help get your business or school on the water-saving track.

Water Use Surveys for Businesses and Schools
Businesses and schools in Santa Clara County may be eligible to participate in this free water survey program. By appointment, a water conservation expert will inspect your business or facility for ways to save and conserve water, thereby helping you lower your monthly utility bill. Commercial Water Softener Rebate Program

The District is offering $400 per rebate to business owner for replacing their old timer based water softener (owned or leased) with a new efficient demand initiated regeneration (DIR) water softener in the Santa Clara County. Cooling Tower Rebate Program
The cooling tower conductivity controller rebate program provides rebates of up to $900 for the installation of a conductivity controller, which saves water and reduces a businesse’s water and sewer bill.  Please contact Jeannine Larabee at 408-265-2607 extension 3201 or jlarabee@valleywater.org.

Commercial Clothes Washer Rebate Program
The Santa Clara Valley Water District is offering rebates of up to $400 per unit on purchased and leased high-efficiency commercial washing machines. Find out more about how to participate and clean up on the savings!

Commercial High Efficiency Toilet Program
The District is offering free installation of high-efficiency toilets to qualifying businesses and schools in Santa Clara County. Click here to find out more about who qualifies and how to participate or contact Karen Morvay at (408) 265-2607, ext. 2707.

Water Efficient Technologies (WET) Program
Are water, sewer or energy costs eating into your bottom line? The District and City of San Jose offer rebates to any business that makes process or equipment changes that conserve water and reduce wastewater flows. Call program manager Jeannine Larabee at (408) 265-2607, ext. 3201 for more information, or check here to find out more about how to obtain a rebate.

Irrigation Technical Assistance Program (ITAP)
Landscaping may consume more than 50 percent of the total water used by your business. Check here to find out how to reduce that amount, or call Kevin Galvin at (408) 265-2607, ext. 2639 for a large landscape water survey. If your business is eligible, a landscape professional will visit your site, evaluate your irrigation system and recommend further water saving techniques.

Irrigation System Hardware Rebate Program (ISHRP)
Do you have over an acre of irrigated landscape? Would you like to upgrade your irrigation system, but are worried about upgrade costs? ISHRP offers a rebate on your hardware costs which will help you increase your sites irrigation efficiency. ISHRP offers a rebate of 50 percent of the hardware costs (up to $4,000 per site) for implementing your site-specific recommendations resulting from your participation in the Irrigation Technical Assistance Program (ITAP).

A more efficient irrigation system means healthier plants, while also cutting water use 20-80 percent. Find out what you need to get started with the ISHRP Program on our ISHRP page.

Weather Based Irrigation Controller (WBIC)
Rebate Program
Would you like to save water, time and money by minimizing unnecessary irrigation? Weather Based Irrigation Controllers evaluate local weather conditions to calculate and automatically adjust an irrigation schedule to meet the specific needs of your landscape.
