PROGRAM ON HOLD
Water Efficient Landscape Rebate Program (WELRP)
Receive up to a $10,000 rebate, or $75 per 100 square feet, whichever is lower
Santa Clara County residents can receive up to $1,000* and commercial, industrial, and institutional properties can receive up to $10,000* by replacing high water using plants such as turf grass, with low water using plants from our Approved Plant List or by installing permeable hardscape. Projects completed in Morgan Hill and Palo Alto are eligible for $150 per 100 sq. feet with a residential maximum rebate of $2,000 and a maximum rebate for businesses of $20,000.
*Rebate amount depends on the square footage of high water using vegetation removed. Under no circumstance can the rebate amount exceed the total project cost, and labor costs will not be calculated in the total project cost.

Program requirements
- No net increase in the size of irrigated area
- Rebates must be subtracted from the project cost before submitting application
- If an irrigation system is used, it must be: drip, soaker, bubbler, micro-spray, or an underground irrigation system; no pop-up spray sprinklers
- Participants must agree to leave the landscape in place for a minimum of five (5) years.
- Artificial turf does not qualify as a replacement product.
How do I apply?
The first step is to schedule a home water survey. If you are a San Jose Water Company customer please call San Jose Water Company at (408) 279-7900 to schedule a water conservation audit. If your water provider is not San Jose Water Company, please contact ConserVision Consulting at 1-800-548-1882 for a Water Wise House Call. These inspections will be used to determine eligibility for the Water Efficient Landscape Rebate Program.
How long will the rebate be available?
Due to high program participation we are currently working to authorize additional funding which should be available by the middle of May, 2009.
For more information, please contact Kurt Elvert at (408)
