The Water District's progressive approach to working in and around creeks continues to reap benefits for the community and the natural environment.

In the first four years of this program, the Water
District has removed so much sediment, invasive
vegetation, trash and debris and repaired so many
eroded creek banks, that when record rainfall came a few years ago, our waterways were able to carry floodwaters safely. This same work has also created more natural conditions for fish, plants and wildlife.

Previous years' projects:

The major types of routine stream maintenance activities are:

  • levee safety
  • sediment removal
  • vegetation management
  • bank protection
More minor maintenance activities include:

If you have observed a problem in any creek in our service area, you can report it online to our "Access Valley Water" online customer request and information system. This is the best way to alert our field crews of downed branches, eroding banks, trash, graffiti or overgrown vegetation.
