Calera Creek - Berryessa Creek to downstream of Escuela Parkway
Project description:
The purpose of this project is to improve Calera Creek to ensure flood protection from a 100-year flood event. The objective of this Berryessa project is to fully mitigate the impacts of increased flood risks associated with backwater effects.
Goals and objectives:
- Provide protection to the surrounding area from the 100-year flood event.
- The project will improve the structural integrity of the levees.
- The project will improve maintenance access and safety of District staff.
- The project will incorporate the City of Milpitas' recreational trail and bridge project.
- The project will seek to obtain a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) from FEMA, revising flood insurance rate maps and thus reducing the required insurance for local homeowners and businesses.
