Smooth Cordgrass Control Project
This multiyear project involves regional coordination monitoring and control of up to 10 acres of invasive smooth cordgrass in Santa Clara County and Coyote Slough for 5 years with an additional 3 years of re-treatment work, if necessary. District staff is working closely with the Coastal Conservancy's Invasive Spartina Program and the Don Edwards SF Bay National Wildlife Refuge to ensure that all monitoring and control efforts are coordinated and complimentary. To date, over 8 acres of invasive smooth cordgrass have been identified in the District's program area. Since 2003, control activities have been conducted annually. Currently, the District's program is on schedule and is anticipated to be completed in 2010.
