Nearly all of the creeks and rivers in Santa Clara County have been severely affected by the county's rapid population growth and are in desperate need of cleaning.
Valley Water manages about 330 miles of creek in Santa Clara County, as a result the water district is unable to oversee all the creeks alone. It needs the help of concerned citizens and businesses that want to help keep our community clean.
Currently, the creeks that are in most need of adoption are in the Uvas/Llagas and Coyote watersheds near Morgan Hill/Gilroy and East San Jose/Milpitas respectively. Many other creeks are also available for adoption in many cities throughout Santa Clara County.
You can use the map below to explore which creeks are available for adoption. Sections colored purple are available for adoption, and the orange sections have already been adopted. Please note that our creeks are very dynamic and not all purple sections may be available for adoption at the time of your inquiry.
