2019 National River Cleanup Day is on Saturday, May 18!

April 18, 2019
Family with small children volunteering

Come and join your neighbors and friends on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to noon to help clean our waterways during National River Cleanup Day. Did you know that last year volunteers picked up nearly 104,000 pounds of trash from creeks in Santa Clara County? That’s equivalent to the weight of 38 Honda Civics! There are currently 52 cleanup sites to choose from throughout Santa Clara County. Our creeks and rivers need our help.

In addition to the time that our volunteers will spend cleaning our rivers and creeks on National River Cleanup Day, Valley Water continues our trash removal efforts year-round to restore creeks, improve water quality, and foster suitable habitat for fish. Together we are making a difference in our local waterways.

We hope to see you all there. Remember to wear long pants and sturdy shoes, and bring your own reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

Valley Water manages an integrated water resources system that includes the supply of clean, safe water, flood protection and stewardship of streams on behalf of Santa Clara County's 2 million residents. The district effectively manages 10 dams and surface water reservoirs, three water treatment plants, an advanced recycled water purification center, a state-of-the-art water quality laboratory, nearly 400 acres of groundwater recharge ponds and more than 275 miles of streams. We provide wholesale water and groundwater management services to local municipalities and private water retailers who deliver drinking water directly to homes and businesses in Santa Clara County.
