Valley Water releases Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan for public review
Valley Water is taking an important step toward addressing climate change and reducing emissions across Santa Clara County. We’ve released our Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan (GHGRP) along with a Draft Initial Study/Negative Declaration (IS/ND) for public review, in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act.
The GHGRP is a long-term, science-based strategy that outlines how Valley Water will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its operations and activities through 2045.
The plan includes:
- A detailed baseline inventory of Valley Water’s past emissions (2017–2021)
- Projections of future emissions through 2045
- Reduction targets aligned with California climate policies, including Assembly Bill 1279
- A comprehensive set of actions to reduce emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2045
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing our region. This plan provides a roadmap for Valley Water to significantly reduce its GHG emissions while continuing to deliver essential water services.
