How you can help keep creeks clean in Santa Clara County

April 15, 2021

By the Youth Commission Creek-Stewardship Group

The crystal blue waters of our creeks are tainted with murky pieces of litter, like masks, gloves and soda cans. Litter can travel through storm drains, creeks and rivers to become bay pollution.

This sad situation makes us realize the extent of how polluted our environment is and wonder how much worse it might become in the future.

We can fight this issue together by participating in National River Cleanup during May 2021. You can pledge to do your part by registering today and help be the solution to water pollution!

To sign up, please visit our events page at https ://sccnrc2021.eventbrite.com.

Select one or every Saturday in May from 9 a.m. to noon to do your part for National River Cleanup.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Valley Water will not be organizing in-person sites. However, we’ll be cleaning up in our neighborhoods and local natural areas.

When registering, you will receive practical clean-up guidelines and the option to request basic cleanup supplies such as trash bags, gloves and litter sticks. Before selecting this option, we strongly encourage you to repurpose items from home, like gardening gloves and grocery bags, to limit travel and exposure. During your cleanup, only collect what you can carry and what you have space to dispose of in your home trash and recycling bins.

Register your cleanup with Valley Water to stay connected with thousands of other residents hosting cleanups and help us track the amount of trash we’re keeping off our streets and creeks. Pollution prevention starts with us.

Join us in cleaning up Santa Clara County together!
