Valley Water is pleased to announce that a draft of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan (GHGRP) is now available for your review. The GHGRP provides a roadmap to reduce Valley Water’s emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. This target aligns with California’s goals under Assembly Bill (AB) 1279, signed by Governor Newsom in 2022. The GHGRP includes an updated baseline inventory of Valley Water’s GHG emissions, a forecast of future GHG emissions, and numerous GHG reduction measures to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. It provides specific implementation steps as well as metrics to measure and report on progress.
The GHGRP aligns with the framework outlined under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines §15183.5. The GHGRP will function as a “CEQA-qualified” plan adopted by the Board of Directors to streamline GHG analyses and support the incorporation of reduction measures in future project-specific CEQA documents. The CEQA document for the GHGRP is currently being prepared and will be released for public review in 2025, along with a final draft of the GHGRP prior to adoption by the Board of Directors.
Valley Water invites you to review the draft GHGRP and share your feedback. Written comments may be submitted via email to Nick Mascarello, Associate Water Resources Specialist, at [email protected]. Comments will be accepted through Friday, January 3, 2025.
Your input is invaluable as Valley Water works to reduce its emissions, and we look forward to your comments. Thank you for your engagement.
