Valley Water Youth Commission Video Contest: Every Drop Counts

Overview:
Do you have a big idea to save water? Valley Water’s Youth Commission is calling on middle and high school students to step up, speak out, and get creative in our conservation video competition! This is your chance to grab the mic, show off your creativity, and inspire your community to protect one of our most important resources… water!
The theme is water conservation. Create a 20-60 second video that inspires youth in our community to save water. How can you create a fresh, new conservation message for your generation?
Videos must be submitted by April 23, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Eligibility:
- Students who live and attend school in Santa Clara County
- Must be currently enrolled in grades 6 through 12
Requirements:
- A signed waiver is required for each participating student
- Groups of up to four students may submit one application form and attach individual waivers
- Videos must be 1 minute or less
- Accepted formats: MOV or MP4, filmed in vertical format
- No copyrighted content allowed, including music, images, or video clips
- All submissions must be safe, respectful, and appropriate
How to Participate:
- Brainstorm your idea – Create a message of water conservation for your generation. Your face does not have to appear in the video.
- Plan and film - Write a quick script, record in vertical format, and make sure your video is clear, easy to hear, and under one minute.
- Complete the waiver - If you’re under 18, have a parent or guardian sign the waiver. If you’re 18 or older, you can sign it yourself.
- Complete the full application and submit your entry. Use the links below to download the waiver and submit your video and waiver.

Recognition and Awards:
All videos will be reviewed by the Valley Water Youth Commission and Valley Water Conservation subject matter experts. Winners will be notified by May 2026 using the email address or phone number provided in their submission form and waiver.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three videos in both categories:
- Middle School (grades 6-8)
- High School (grades 9-12)
Prizes include:
- 1st Place: Valley Water tote bag prize bundle and $50 gift card
- 2nd Place: Valley Water T-shirt prize pack and $25 gift card
- 3rd Place: Valley Water creative essentials pack
