Inaugural Water 101 Academy
The application period for our new spring 2019 academy is now open from Oct. 15 through Nov. 30.
The Santa Clara Valley Water District is launching a brand new Water 101 Academy that is open to all community members in the Santa Clara County who want to gain an understanding of local water issues and learn about current or future water projects going on in their local communities. We are now accepting applications for the inaugural spring 2019 class, which includes four weekday evening sessions and one weekend session that will include a tour of water facilities.
Through this new program, the Water District hopes to build and sustain a diverse network of influencers who are willing to serve as community water ambassadors on local water issues and refer others to future academy sessions.
Sessions scheduled at the Water District Headquarters on the following dates:
- Session 1: Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 6–8 p.m.
- Session 2: Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 6–8 p.m.
- Session 3: Wednesday, March 13 from 6–8 p.m.
- Session 4: Saturday, March 23 from 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Session 5: Tuesday, March 26 (graduation) 6 p.m.
Participants MUST commit to attend each session and tour in order to graduate and receive certificate.
There is no tuition, fee, or charge to apply or attend the academy. However, class size is limited.
- Participants must be a resident in Santa Clara County
- Participants must plan to attend all sessions
- Participants must be at least 18 years of age
The selection process is an open competitive process until filled and finalists will be notified in early December. Evaluation criteria includes genuine interest, community /civic involvement, geographical /community representation, as well as commitment to attend all sessions. Applications will go through a competitive evaluation process, which may include short phone interviews, before final participants are selected.
