Valley Water Integrated Invasive Plant Management Program

Content

The Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water), in recognition of our mission to provide safe, clean water for a healthy life, environment, and economy for Santa Clara County’s 2 million residents, has begun development of an Integrated Invasive Plant Management Program (IIPMP). Valley Water’s IIPMP will address invasive plants found anywhere on Valley Water facilities and will establish the tools and techniques to control and eliminate those plants which degrade the environment, complicate operation and maintenance of Valley Water infrastructure, and negatively impact the residents of Santa Clara County.

Development of Valley Water’s IIPMP will occur over several years in three main phases. First, Valley Water will prepare a program manual which will guide implementation of invasive species management. Second, Valley Water will prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to evaluate program impacts under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and finally, Valley Water will obtain any needed permits prior to beginning invasive management activities in late 2025.

For additional information about the IIPMP, or to find out how to participate in development of the program, please contact Valley Water at [email protected].
